The University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” is a public university located in Prishtina, the capital of the Republic of Kosovo. Prior to the establishment of Kosovo as an independent state, the University of Prishtina was initially enacted by the then Social Autonomous Province of Kosova on 18 November 1969, which provided a legal status and mandate of the institution as a degree awarding body. In 2003, during the Balkans post-conflict period, reforms were solicited through a new strategy for higher education policy, which resulted in the adoption of the University Statute in 2004. The University comprises of 14 faculties, covering the fields of engineering, medicine, natural and social sciences, languages, education, law, economics, the arts, etc.

The Civil Engineering Faculty initially was established in 1961, as the Technical School of Prishtina, and after 4 successful years, in 1965, the Technical Faculty with Civil Engineering as a department was established. In 1999, it was created as an academic unit under the name “Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture”, separated from the Technical Faculty. In 2019, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture were separated into two faculties. The Faculty of Civil Engineering, starting from the years of its inception, is considered as a leader in our country for the education and upbringing of the generations who served and serve the needs of the country. Today, the Faculty of Civil Engineering organizes and develops study programs in BSc and MSc Construction, BSc and MSc Hydrotechnics and MSc IWRM-K, BSc and MSc Geodesy and BSc Environmental Engineering.


Polytechnic University of Tirana is a public university located in Tirana, the capital of Albania. It mainly offers degrees in engineering. Founded in 1951 (called at first the Polytechnic Institute), it is the oldest and the second largest university in Albania. In 1957, the Polytechnic Institute became the State University of Tirana. In 1991 the Polytechnic University of Tirana split up from the University of Tirana becoming an independent institution.

Civil Engineering Faculty –   Civil Engineering Faculty is one of the oldest and most experienced Faculties in the Albanian Higher Education. It was established in 1951 as a Construction Branch in the framework of Higher Polytechnic Institute of Tirana and later as constituent part of Tirana University.
